Vaduvanchal

Vaduvanchal is one of the most recognisable place names in southern Wayanad’s hill country. Its shops, educational institutions and public services make it an everyday meeting point for people from neighbouring farming settlements. The Muppainad Grama Panchayat has its headquarters here, while the Thomattuchal village office and Government Higher Secondary School Vaduvanchal lie on the Ambalavayal panchayat side. That proximity reflects the area’s position near a local administrative boundary. Roads through Vaduvanchal link the Wayanad uplands with the direction of Gudalur in Tamil Nadu. Beyond the built-up centre, the setting quickly becomes a mix of valleys, hill slopes and cultivated land. Local addresses commonly use Vaduvanchal as their postal reference even when the smaller locality has its own name.
