The Wayanad district is demarcated into three distinct subdivisions or taluks, namely Mananthavady, Sulthan Bathery, and Vythiri. Among these, Mananthavady stands as the largest subdivision, spanning an area of approximately 1,165 square kilometers. Revered for its breathtaking scenery, it boasts numerous waterfalls and densely forested expanses that add to its allure. Sulthan Bathery takes its place as the second-largest subdivision, covering an expanse of roughly 957 square kilometers. This taluk holds historical significance, harking back to its role as a pivotal trade center during the reign of the ancient ruler, Tipu Sultan.
Contrastingly, Vythiri emerges as the most compact subdivision, encompassing a mere 10 square kilometers. This pocket-sized area is renowned for its tea and coffee plantations, which lend an aromatic charm to its landscapes.
